Our Birth Story

Our "Mother Company", Shebirths.com, was created to support a woman's right to a Birth of her choosing. It was founded around a book written by our founder/owner, Marcie Macari, and it is from this company, that Bloomin’ Belly Soaps ™ was born.

Through the course of our interaction with clients and customers, we discovered that far too many women felt negatively toward their blossoming body, and we wanted to create a product that would help women feel good about their changing form.

Women “in bloom” are at their most powerful, and should be celebrated!

Here's what Marcie Macari says about the "birth" of Bloomin’ Belly Soaps ™:

" I know this sounds cliché, but one night I had a dream. About soaps. I saw these beautiful pregnant torsos, and I was smitten!
I began searching everywhere for a mold of this shape-even contacting several “unique” mold companies.  This figure in my dream simply didn’t exist, and even the companies who claimed to be willing to make molds to your specifications were squeamish about the form I was requesting….after all, they had NIPPLES!

But I wasn’t about to give up, and I wasn’t going to compromise on the vision by taking away a whole aspect of the pregnant form!
Since no one seemed to be willing or able to do it for me…
.I simply made the mold myself, using food-grade silicone,
(No leaching chemicals around my kids or in my soaps!)
 The next day, I set-up my soap making station, and the rest, as I say…is herstory! "

Within 6 months, Bloomin’ Belly Soaps ™ has expanded to include resellers in the US, Portugal, Australia and Canada and is growing every day!
 Bloomin’ Belly Soaps ™, though still a very new company, is beginning to get attention from organizations and companies tired of the de-sexualized, disempowered, de-feminized pregnant form prevalent in so much
of what is marketed to expectant consumers.
Women are starting to look for gifts and products that celebrate one of the precious things that make the female form so amazing-our ability to create life, and sustain it through breastfeeding. Bloomin’ Belly Soaps ™ fills a void in this
umm…ever expanding (yes, pun intended!) market.
